We can help you prepare your claim * for personal injuries following an accident with the Personal Injuries Assessment Board (PIAB).
The (PIAB) is an independent statutory body which assesses the amount of compensation due to a person who has suffered a personal injury as a result of an accident. You should be aware that the Civil Liability & Courts Act, 2004 stipulates that the time limit for bringing a claim is two years from the date of the accident.
The PIAB make no rulings or determination as to liability or who was responsible but only assess what compensation is payable to the injured party on the basis of the injuries suffered. They make these calculations with reference to what is termed a Book of Quantum (amount) which lists common injuries and their related compensation. Download the Book of quantum.
What do we do?
We have over 25 years experience in personal injuries claims and can advise on the value of any offer or assessment which may be made by the PIAB. If the award is insufficient or has not been accepted or no offer has been made by the party at fault, we will then prepare Court papers.
What documents are needed for a PIAB application?
You will be responsible for discharging your doctors or consultant’s fees and these may be reimbursed by the PIAB if they believe them to be reasonable or merited. The PIAB has not said that they will repay them in full although it is believed that they normally give favourable consideration to this part of the expense.
